Microkini Swimwear

Microkini swimwear is simply an alternative name for the micro bikini, four syllables instead of five.  The micro bikini, as you can guess by the name, is a smaller version of the bikini.  Not to suggest that it’s made for small people.  No, the micro bikini is in fact made up of smaller swatches of fabric so that the overall coverage is less than that of the average bikini, and with less fabric comes more skin that’s exposed.  So if you’re comfortable with the idea of wearing a skimpier bikini, reducing tan lines and just showing off more skin in general, the microkini may be the way to go.

Taking the proper steps to taking care of your bikini will go a long way in extending its life.  When it comes to bikinis, there are two main things to keep in mind: heat and chemicals.  The elastic materials in bikinis don’t do well when it comes to higher temperatures and liquids that aren’t water.  For those reasons, never ever launder your bikini in the washer and dryer.  Hand wash it in a sink with warm water and gentle, mild soap, give it a wring then either hang it up to dry or lay it flat on a clean towel. When you get out of the pool or water, take a rinse under clean water to get rid of as much salt water or chlorine as possible.  The longer the stuff stays in the suit, the worse off it’ll be.  If you just changed out of a wet bathing suit, don’t roll it up into a towel.  That towel will trap heat and harm the elasticity of the suit.  If you don’t plan on getting wet in your bathing suit, be careful where you sit.  Pool edges and beach chairs may look smooth but sometimes they have rough surfaces that can snag onto the bottom of your suit and cause it to get fuzzy, so sit on a towel instead.
